Training at Barr W Stables is done by Jessie Godwin. She is skilled at starting colts under saddle safely and putting good solid foundations on young horses. She can also solve problems such as trailer loading, spookiness on the trail, and many other vices that plague horse owners. She can put the finishing touches on a show horse or turn your trail horse into a safe and reliable partner. All of her methods are based on respect and control on the ground and then moving into respect and control under saddle. Jessie is also skilled and knowledgeable in Natural Horsemanship techniques. Consignment services are also available through Barr W Stables. If you have a good quality horse or pony that you are trying to sell, Barr W Stables can condition and advertise your horse to the public for you also.
***NOTE: All training services provided at Barr W Stables also include one lesson per week with the horse owner so that they can also see and learn our methods as well as learn how to interact with their horse and keep up the training once they take them home. This is something that most trainers will not offer and will often charge extra for if they do. Typically a lesson would run $40/hour alone but with the training package you receive four lessons total with your horse. That is a total of a $160.00 value in lessons FREE when you send us your horse!

Colt Starting - $600.00
Colt starting last for 45 days, the first 15 days are focused on ground work. Natural horsemanship techniques will be used and topics such as round penning, lounging, desensitizing, ground tying, trailer loading, standing while tacking, and clipping will be covered during this time. The next 30 days will be under saddle work. Topics covered will be walk, trot, lope, one rein stop, backing, flexing vertically and laterally, yielding to pressure, and much more. Your horse will be exposed to natural trail settings also near the end of his training. This 45 days will put a great starting foundation on your horse and he will leave ready to be finished your way. Time is also set aside for the owner to come out and take lessons with the trainer so that training will be maintained once the horse is home. Board is included in the price of training. The horse will be turned out individually and fed twice daily while in training.
Finishing, Tune Ups, and Problem Solving - $450 per month
Have a broke horse but want to apply the finishing touches? A horse that has been out to pasture for too long and needs a tune up? Or even a horse that has a frustrating vice that you just can't deal with any longer? The right training can solve just about anything. Individualized training programs will be made to suite you and your horse's needs. Once evaluated we customize your horse's schedule, work to fix the problem, and then incorporate YOU (the owner) into the situation so you will have continued success with your horse. Board is included in the price of training. The horse will be turned out individually and fed twice daily while in training.
Pre-School For Young Horses - $350 per month
This is a great program for your weanlings, yearlings, and two-year olds that are preparing to be started under saddle. In this program we focus on building a very solid foundation in respect on the ground. By the end of the thirty days the horses will have been introduced to all of the groundwork exercises such as yielding hindquarters and forequarters, side passing, trailering, sending over objects, intro to ground driving, ponying out on trail rides, tying, and desensitization to spooky objects and clippers. This program will set you up for success with your young horses and make the starting under saddle process a breeze when the time comes.
Trailer Loading - $50 at our place / $100 at yours
